My how time flies!
My how time flies, I can’t believe it’s already December 1st. Time to get into the holiday spirit of things.
Christmas time is one of my favorite times of the year. Spending time with family and friends, enjoying a glass of mulled wine around the fireplace or spending the day baking cookies and decorating them are some of the fun things I enjoy. I love baking a turkey with stuffing and cranberry sauce and gravy with mashed potatoes. I love apple pie and icecream afterwards and best of all, I love watching the grandkids open up gifts.
I love driving around the neighborhood and seeing all the Christmas lights and of course one of my favorite things to do at Christmas time is to decorate my home.
I just bought a new home year so I am excited to make room for it and finish decorating it. I love that I can get an early start decorating by using an artificial tree as well.
One thing I find this time of year is that many people get stressed out!
Instead of focusing on being happy they have family and friends, a job and food on their table, they complain that they don’t know what to get someone for Christmas.
I can understand that Christmastime can put a financial hardship on people but I also feel that we must try to remember that Christmas is more about love, peace and joy. Spending time with your friends and family should be the focus, not presents.
One of the nicest things and probably one of the more memorable gifts someone will appreciate is the “gift of time”. Having someone who will actually share their time with you. It can be a pretty lonely world out there and to me this is one of the greatest gifts of all and it doesn’t cost money.
So if you can afford a pot of coffee, invite someone to your table to share it with or take someone out for a coffee. Take a break, slow down the pace and take time to breathe.
Merry Christmas to you and may 2023 be filled with wonderful blessings in you and your families lives!
Yours in health,
Emily
