Fall Apple Crisp - Gluten Free

With cooler Fall days upon us, an abundance of apples available in the stores and markets right now, this is a great time to use apples for a quick and easy dessert I'm sure the family will enjoy. (If you don't have fresh apples you can subsitute with frozen apples too. You might want to add a tblsp of tapioca starch or cornstarch to thicken up the apple mixture a bit though.)

Bottom Layer Ingredients

2 c apples (chopped and peeled)

2 tsp Roots Alive organic cinnamon 

1/4 c organic cane sugar

1/8 c organic walnuts (chopped)

1 tblsp butter (melted)

Top Layer Ingredients

1 c almond flour

1 c gluten free oats (I used the ONE brand)

1/2 c chopped walnuts

2 tsp Roots Alive organic cinnamon 

2 1/2 tblsp Nutiva coconut oil 

1/2 tsp Pink Himalayan Salt

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Farenheit.

2. Place all of the bottom layer ingredients into a greased 8x 8 pan.

3. Mix the topping ingredients together and then sprinkle the crumbly mixture over the top of the bottom layer and place in the oven.

4. Bake for 30 minutes.

5. Serve warm with a scoop of your favorite whipped topping or icecream.
